Three dishes of Hanoi honored as top Asian cuisines

Since 2010, the Vietnam record organization has implemented a program to promote Vietnam’s cuisines and seek international records for Vietnamese cuisines, contributing to advertise Vietnamese cuisine to the world.

Pho, bun cha and bun thang will be honored at the Tourism festival of traditional villages of Hanoi and the Red River Delta provinces in Hanoi from October 8 to 12.

Mr. Mai Tien Dung, deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, says that gastronomy is considered an important factor in attracting tourists to Vietnam.

Since 2010, the Vietnam record organization has implemented a program to promote Vietnam’s cuisines and seek international records for Vietnamese cuisines, contributing to advertise Vietnamese cuisine to the world.

Accordingly, Vietnam has 12 dishes listed in the "Top dishes of Asia" of the Asian record organization.

The title will be presented to the three dishes of Hanoi at the opening ceremony of the Tourism festival of traditional villages of Hanoi and the Red River Delta provinces on October 8.

Also at this event, six cuisines of Hanoi will be recognized as Vietnamese specialties, including: La Vong fried fish, Thanh Tri steamed rolled rice pancake, Huong Son apricots, Canh oranges, Hang Than green rice flake cake, Hang Duong salted and sugared dry fruits.

"Most foreign tourists highly appreciate the cuisines of Vietnam, especially Hanoi cuisines with high traditional values. So Hanoi is proud of its cuisines," Dung said.

The 12 Vietnamese cuisine recognized as the top Asian dishes include: pho (Vietnamese noodle), bun cha (vermicelli and grilled chopped meat), bun thang (vermicelli and chicken soup), Hai Phong noodle with crab soup, Ninh Binh rice crust, Nghe An eel vermicelli, Hue beef noodle, Quang noodles, Gia Lai dry noodles, Vung Tau khot cake, Saigon spring rolls and Saigon broken rice.
